While watching my partner play basketball in the Lower East Side one Saturday, I began to sketch the other observers as is my tendency… But before I had finished the first 4 faces, I had semi-arbitrarily decided to draw 500. It was something to do on my subway rides but it was also something I hoped would serve as tiny collections of memories so that - whenever I left New York- I’d always be reminded of what I loved most about the city: the people.

Little did I know I’d leave soon after finishing the project. I’m happy to report it’s worked as hoped.
